Let's face it, art looks naked without a mat.
Here's a fine man
without a mat:

Cheap'n'easy trick - put the pic
inside a
one-celled table 20-30 pixels larger in both height and width from the
image. Set the background color of the table to be whatever you want
the 'mat color' to be, and set the alignment to center in both
directions and voila.
Add another one-celled table for a
pseudo-double
mat:
